ENGLAND – “The Creation of Adam" reproduced with marshmallows

To celebrate the 450th anniversary of the death of Michelangelo (1564), the pastry – artist Michelle Wibowo has reproduced one of his most famous works, "The Creation of Adam”, using marshmallows and pastry decorations.

"We have decided to challenge the boundaries of cake design by reproducing in our own way, one of the most famous paintings in the world. No party would be complete if it lacks a cake, and we hope that Michelangelo would have given his approval." Says Michelle.

Michelle used a reproduction of the work as a reference to create the cake: the real difficulty was, however to reproduce the colors by mixing 24 different types of decorations for cakes.

Michelle Wibowo, originally Indonesian, is a Sugar & Food English Artist and was chosen among 100 contemporary artists around the world to exhibit her work at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London in 2011. In 2008 and 2012 she was awarded with gold and silver medals at the culinary Olympics, the largest culinary competition in the world that takes place in Germany. Her creations are exhibited all over the world and she also teaches at the international level.

Her latest creation was sold at an auction and the raised funds were donated to charity.
