Bicycle Sales Surpass Car Sales in 26 out of 28 Countries in EU

According to a BBC survey that compared the sales of cars to bikes, it was discovered that in almost all countries in the European Union bicycle sales have surpassed that of cars.

This overtaking occurred in 26 of the 28 EU countries, according to the statistics.

In Italy car sales are back to the level of 1964, December being the 42nd month of continuous decline in sales, while in London cyclists have increased by 66%. The novelty is that now bikes, rather than cars, are also used in many countries in southern Europe, and bike-sharing schemes have been developed recently in cities like Milan and Madrid, following the example of Paris and London.

Only two EU countries continue to sell more cars than bicycles, Belgium and Luxembourg
