Burma - Steps Taken to End Recruitment of Children into Army

The UN has announced that on January 18, 2014, the Myanmar army has allowed the release of 96 children who fought in its ranks.

This liberation is the most important since the United Nations and the Burmese government that succeeded the junta signed a "plan of action" in June 2012 to prevent the recruitment of children and allow them to return to civilian life.

Since 2012, 272 children and young people were let go by the police, and the army too began to drastically decrease the use of child soldiers.
