INDONESIA - "unity and friendship between religions" It 's the first time for the Archdiocese of Semerang to organize such an important event

The six recognized religions in Indonesia, Muslims, Catholics, Protestants, Buddhists, Hindus and Confucians,  will meet for three days at a conference to enhance  friendship, dialogue and mutual understanding. The meeting place is the town of Muntilan in central Java.


"A real and genuine brotherhood among the followers of different religions" this is the title of the event sponsored by the Archdiocese of Semarang. The cultural, educational and social program at the conference will aim to promote peaceful co-existence between religions in the diocese and throughout the Indonesian archipelago. Among the many activities there is also the vision of a movie dedicated to the late cardinal who was the Archbishop of Justinus Darmojuwono Semerang from 1963 to 1981.


The documentary, entitled "In you I trust" was shot in 10 months and will be screened to mark the centenary of the birth of the Cardinal that took place on November 2, 1914. The speakers who will participate at the conference will be  the Archbishop of Semerang Msgr. Johannes Pujasumarta, prof. Buya Ahmad Syafii Maarif, former president of the moderate Muslim organization Muhammadiyah and the former first lady Shinta Nuriyah Wahid.
